In order to strengthen the links and establish a good communication channel between the library and users in various disciplines, subject librarian teams are organized to create an efficient, fast, accurate, and sophisticated document guarantee system for the schools of the university.The team members with corresponding professional background are appointed to the relevant schools and carry out a full range of services according to their subjects. They stay close with the faculties to understand the literature and information needs of their subjects, and offer consultation services for and establish disciplinary literature resources guidelines and provide embedded information literacy trainings to the teaching and research of the schools.

• Information Literacy Instructions

  In order to better help teachers and students get familiar with the utilization of resources and services provided by the library, and improve their information literacy, the subject librarians open five public elective courses regularly for undergraduates on all the four campuses. Various training lectures are also given all the year round during the semesters to the readers so that they can master the basic methods and skills of information retrieval and utilization and enhance their ability to obtain literature as well as to use the library and internet academic resources freely. • Subject guides

  With the techniques and tools provided by the subject information platform, the subject librarians integrate the disciplinary literature resources and provide personalized services for readers in different research fields and subjects in a professional manner. Contents of the subject guides are categorized by majors or subjects, covering information and services such as the index of disciplinary literature collection resources, navigation links of related network resources, tracking and evaluation of academic focuses, recommendations of resource purchase, study community, etc.

• Scientific Research Data Management

  The library provides the Wuhan University Research Data Management Platform for all faculties, staff and students to preserve, manage and share their research data. The long-term data preservation, data releasing and data sharing can be achieved by creating a personal database with the platform. To better facilitate teaching and research, all the teachers and students can search for, obtain and utilize the data resources released on the platform. Currently this platform has ennabled all the teachers and students to browse data from four research institutes: School of Life Sciences, Department of Sociology, School of Information Management, and Wuhan University libraries.
